During challenging times, the deli has adapted creatively by offering grilled hot sausages, kielbasa, and hot dogs right outside its door. As customer Vickie B. noted, this initiative not only supports the business but also delivers deliciousness on the go. She fondly reminisces about the taste of a hot sausage topped with crisp onions and peppers—a satisfying option while supporting local. It’s this level of community engagement that sets Deli on North apart.
Despite a modest physical space, Tationna S. hints at the comforting atmosphere, noting that the food quickly makes up for any limited seating. “My sandwich was pretty big and warm. All the ingredients tasted pretty fresh,” she says, emphasizing the quality and value infused into each dish.

“ If your in Northside and want a sandwich this is the place Your not going to beat it anywhere Best lunch place in town ”
“ Oh how I wanted to order the Mazeroski way. (Hubby once asked me if I knew anything about the 1960 world series and I gave him the entire play by play). There are so many good sandwiches on the menu, my mouth was watering. But alas there is covid. Customer base is unreliable as restrictions tighten and loosen. Worse, the food supply costs also go up and down and how can anyone run a small business. Solution..in front of the business a small cart grilling hot sausages, kielbasa and I think hotdogs. OK not my Mazeroski Way but gotta support our small businesses. Hot sausage please. Perfect, the onions and peppers just greasy enough with a little crispness. One of the better hot sausages I have had. He is hoping to be back to normal sometime in October but even if he isnt, stop by for a hot sausage. It's good and your patronage helps our small businesses. I will return to eat around the menu. Unfortunately I dont live in the burgh but I visit, often. ”
“ Pick any one of the 29 sandwiches and your belly will be so happy. Grab a dog, or sausage and smother it in onions & peppers fresh off the grill. Plenty of salads from coleslaw to a meat bucket consisting of various cubed meats and cheeses. Everything is absolutely delicious here and ginormous. ”
“ This wasn't the best rueben I've ever had but it was pretty darn good. Be careful because you could easily walk right past this place since it's pretty small and the windows were fogged up. Inside was pretty small. If social distancing is enforced, 3 or 4 people could wait in there. I waited about 5 mins before someone greeted me and this was around 11:30am. The guy was super nice and very social as he told me I didn't need to be on my phone texting because the conversation was right here (lol). My food was ready in just about 5 mins. I spent $11 on my sandwich, small side of cole slaw, and a bottled water. The sandwich was pretty big. One half required two hands (I have little hands though so idk if that's saying much). It was warm and all the ingredients tasted pretty fresh. Like I said, it wasn't the best Rueben ever but I would certainly go back. ”
“ Great sandwiches at a great price! What else can you ask for? They grill sausage, dogs and kielbasa out front on the street or you can go inside and get a delightful sandwich. We went at lunch time so expect a little line and they do get call in orders. The sandwiches are named for the streets of the North Shore. I went with the Mazeroski Way which is a Triple Decker with fresh corned beef & hot pastrami with Swiss cheese and a good slaw and some Russiona dressing on Pittsburgh rye bread. A really wonderful sandwich. ”
“ is it possible the sandwiches are getting bigger? I am awestruck at the size of this sandwich---it's literally bigger than a newborn baby! and flavors are on point. the quality only increases! if ns deli ever closed my heart would break into a million pieces. ”
“ Wife picked up some sandwiches for us from the North Shore Deli. Wife actually brought back sandwiches 2x from there. I had lean pastrami on rye with mustard. North shore had Boars Head meats which are my favorite. The sandwich was amazing and I would definetly recommend North Shore Deli. I will definitely be going there my self at some point as the food is amazing. Once I go there my self I will update my listing ”
“ I prefer the South Shore Deli and by Deli I mean your girlfriend's oh crap is that the time. Speaking of times. They say they are open until 3.30, but were closed at 2.45. Annoying. When I did get to try it, it was more expensive than I expected (but still relatively average) and just ok (didn't blow me away like, for example, Frank's Bratwurst in rival city Cleveland's East Side Market - market down in your diaries as a place you must try). I'd heard that this was a Pittsburgh specialty and had been attempting to try it for a long time. When I finally did I was delighted for the chance to experience it, but a little underwhelmed. The sausages taste good, don't get me wrong. And it's heavy and filling. On the other hand is not the most amazing sausage I've had by a long shot and it's a little pricey considering what you actually get. This is an institution of Pittsburgh and of the Northside but perhaps they should Branch out and get some even tastier sausages because I think I would enjoy the experience even more if they had something really spectacular such as your uncle's sausage. But don't tell your auntie that I said that ”
